Today, I am thankful for my grandparents; and as I did my dad first when blogging about my parents; its only fair I do my Mom's parents first. My grandpa died when I was 8 years old, but regardless I am very grateful for the legacy he left behind. He was a strong man, who believed in protecting those he loved. He was caring, loving and respectful. He had a sense of duty, and he lived by it. I am very grateful for the example he set for our family and all those he knew. And while I wish I could have known him better, and that he was still around today, I am very grateful for the memories I have for him and the legacy he left behind.
I am also grateful for my grandma. She carries a quiet dignity that I have always respected about her. She has a big heart and has always wanted the best for me. I enjoy every minute I get to spend with her, even though I don't get over to her house I much I wish I did. She has this way of putting everyone else's needs above her own to the point that we sometimes have to remind her to take care of herself. I am very grateful for everything she has done for me and for the awesome example she has set for me. And on a side note, she is an incredible cook, so I am also grateful for all the home-cooked meals she has provided me over the years :). Anyway, I consider myself to be very blessed to have such an amazing grandmother and example in my life.
